The Warp had been blown apart, and the C'tan had not been spared either. Fortunately, the Necrons had thrown almost all of them into the Solar System battlefield in the end, so when the avatars of the chief gods exploded, the C'tan were blown apart along with them.

The physical laws they represented shattered and scattered throughout the universe. They, too, were immortal and would slowly coalesce again, but that would take billions of years. What the universe would look like by then was a matter for the distant future.

The future belonged to mortals. They would need their wisdom and civilizations to solve its problems.

Time flew by. By the Milky Way's calendar, it was already the age of 50k.

Thousands of years had passed, and many things had happened in the universe-so very many things. There had been tragedies and legends, the rise of peoples and the extinction of others.

On a remote planet named Gorkamorka, a world covered in Orks, the Greenskins were happily fighting among themselves.

This bout of infighting was on a grand scale, threatening to develop into a massive Waaagh!

Two Greenskin forces wielding Choppa axes and Shootas drove hordes of mechanical walkers, vehicles, and tanks through one mek town after another, firing everything they had. They seemed determined to turn the towns, which already looked like scrapyards, into even bigger scrapyards.

The cause of the war was simple. As the work-point system spread, conflicts among the Greenskins grew increasingly bitter. In particular, the Union Boys had secretly stolen the Gretchin's work points and sold them to other Boys, bringing those tensions to a head.

Without work points, there was no right to join a Waaagh! Every Ork Empire fleet that visited Gorkamorka selected its recruits according to their work-point totals.
