By the time Yi Yang made it from those waters in White Dragon Marsh to the gates of the Heaven Patrol Office, the blood from his left shoulder had soaked through his outer robe, staining the gray cloth dark.
The two Patrol Guards on night duty at the entrance paled at the sight of him.
"Director!"
Yi Yang ignored them and continued straight toward the rear courtyard.
Seeing his wounded figure hurrying away, the two Patrol Guards could not help worrying.
As Yi Yang passed through the Heaven Patrol Office's corridor, three more Patrol Guards poked their heads out of the duty room.
One of them, a Patrol Guard in his early forties, glanced at Yi Yang twice. Upon seeing his injuries, he shifted his gaze away and lowered his eyes, no longer watching him.
Yet his eyes were full of something unusual.
The movement was perfectly natural.
Anyone else would have missed the oddity entirely.
But how powerful had Yi Yang's perception become after his breakthrough to the True Astral Realm? These Qi-Blood Realm Patrol Guards had no chance of hiding anything from him.
The instant that Patrol Guard lowered his head, Yi Yang noticed how tense his body was. Clearly, something was wrong.
"Interesting."
Yi Yang did not turn back to seize the Patrol Guard, who was very likely a spy for another faction. Nor did he spare the man another glance. He simply turned into the rear courtyard.
I'll keep this fish alive for now. I still need him to carry the news out.
Although the city's major factions seemed to have quieted down somewhat, Yi Yang knew it was only temporary.
