Worse still, the assassin vanished immediately after missing, leaving no trace whatsoever. Even if this sort of assassination failed to kill him, it would annoy him to death.
Zhang Fan had to watch his surroundings constantly. The slightest distraction would invite a surprise attack from the Demon Abyss Assassins.
Even surrounding himself with Ghost Bugs, Shadow Bugs, and other reconnaissance-type members of the Insect Race was useless. When the time came for an assassination, the flash of a sword simply appeared.
What puzzled Zhang Fan, however, was that after every two failed attempts, the assassins grew a level stronger, and their methods became more varied.
From ambushes to traps, from traps to poison, and from poison to magic, they used every means available. Rather than trying to assassinate him, Zhang Fan increasingly felt that they were merely testing his strength.
Fortunately, these assassins were not particularly powerful. He did not even need to act himself; Charm Spider could drive them off.
Still, killers lurking around him at all times were as irritating as mosquitoes buzzing in his ears.
"These Demon Abyss Assassins are driving me up the wall. If they don't kill me, they'll drive me mad sooner or later."
Zhang Fan complained at length, but he could not come up with a good solution. Shusha was equally at a loss. It was not just a matter of assassination-with Demon Abyssians lurking nearby, sometimes they did not even dare discuss important military affairs.
