I'm fine. I was too busy yesterday and ran out of time. I'd meant to post a separate note explaining things yesterday, but since I didn't update, I'm putting the explanation after today's update instead.
Those of you in the group probably know I haven't shown up in ages. I really have been busy lately.
With both the Spring Festival and the virus outbreak, I'd figured that, as someone living in an outbreak area, I could just stay home and write. But after only a few days, I got the sudden urge to go volunteer.
I'm just an ordinary person volunteering in the community, but we're so short-handed that each person has to do the work of two.
The community went into full lockdown the day before yesterday, with closed-off management in place. Yesterday, we went door to door checking everyone. That first day of checks was especially busy, and by evening I couldn't keep going, so the update flew the coop.
We Wuhan locals can't just sit around doing nothing and wait for other people to help, can we? Even with support coming from all sides, we have to help ourselves too. I've always said in the book: don't rely on heaven, rely on yourself.
It'd be a waste if an aspiring young man like me-so sturdy, with such a strong immune system, in the prime of life, and not easily infected-didn't volunteer. Even Qian Bao in the book deliberately got himself infected to treat an illness!
A quick update on how things have been lately: work was supposed to resume today, but that's been pushed back to the twentieth. Pretty much everywhere is sealed off, and we're desperately short-handed.
Everything is moving in a better direction. The sudden jump of over ten thousand new cases in Wuhan yesterday
