At the beat of a drum, Wei Ben glanced at Gao Jieneng and moved.
Wei Ben crossed the roughly five-hundred-meter track in an instant. Several horse posts formed an obstacle ahead of him, but he vaulted over them just as easily.
Gao Jieneng lagged a few steps behind.
Farther ahead stood a stone lock weighing over a thousand jin. Keeping his momentum, Wei Ben hoisted it straight overhead, then even spun around once.
"Excellent!"
"What a beast!"
"A top-tier general indeed!"
So said the spectators. How much of their cheering came from admiration for Wei Ben's martial prowess was hard to say, but one thing was certain: they were cheering from the heart. With Wei Ben doing so well, they stood to make a tidy sum from their bets!
As if flaunting his might, Wei Ben slammed the stone lock down. This blow was even more powerful, smashing it to pieces.
On the other side, Gao Jieneng also lifted his stone lock, but lacked Wei Ben's imposing presence. He even looked a little unsteady when setting it down, clearly falling a notch short.
Another five-hundred-meter run followed. This time, arrows waiting in quivers lay ahead of them.
Gao Jieneng fired three arrows in succession, every one striking the bull's-eye and drawing gasps from the crowd.
But Wei Ben performed even better. He picked up his arrows cleanly, drew his bow, and nocked them in one smooth sequence, firing three shots in rapid succession. The first two struck the bull's-eye, while the last hit with such force that it punched straight through!
After another five-hundred-meter run, the two reached the weapon racks. One took a saber, the other a spear, and both mounted horses.
Wei Ben urged his horse forward, swinging his saber straight at Gao Jieneng. Gao Jieneng whirled his
