After her crash course, Jiang You had become downright paranoid. Half an hour in, everyone she looked at seemed to have ulterior motives.
But to be fair, Jiang Nong really was paying Shen Lian far too much attention.
"Assistant Sun." Jiang You reported to Sun Binghe, who had just returned from the restroom. "In the last five minutes, Jiang Nong shared snacks and cookies with Shen Lian, kept finding things to talk about, and finally asked him to open a water bottle he supposedly couldn't unscrew."
Sun Binghe said, "Is he a pig? A grown man can't even open a bottle?"
Jiang Nong's assistant happened to pass by and inexplicably felt caught in the crossfire. Curious, he asked, "Who are you talking about?"
Jiang You lacked the necessary finesse and immediately shut her mouth. Sun Binghe, however, turned leisurely around and used his height advantage to look down at the assistant through narrowed eyes. Finally, he asked, "What's it got to do with you?"
The assistant had no idea where this sense of impending danger came from, but he fled at a speed that rivaled Hengtai's executives.
"Shen Lian, want some red date sachima?" Jiang Nong approached him.
Shen Lian drew in a quiet breath through his teeth.
At first, Shen Lian could put it down to a kid being playful and eager to make friends. But after he accepted a few little gifts, Jiang Nong visibly grew more excited. It would have been fine if he treated everyone the same way, but he singled Shen Lian out.
Turning his head, he caught what seemed to be a sneer from Sun Binghe.
"All right." Shen Lian turned Jiang Nong around and pushed him forward. "Go discuss how to deliver your lines with the director."
"I've already memorized them!" Jiang Nong
