Shen Lian switched on the high beams, watching the stretch of road ahead. Fortunately, there were no other vehicles around besides theirs.
With Chang Qing's safety taking priority, he had to be cautious.
Shen Lian heard Xu Jingge's low voice over the phone. "Shen Lian, stop. Leave the rest to my men. That's not how you drive."
Shen Lian narrowed his eyes and suddenly said, "Now."
Xu Jingge said, "No! Wait-"
Shen Lian spun the wheel and floored the accelerator. The sports car roared forward, leaving the van behind him no time to dodge. The driver's vision went dark before a bang rang out as he crashed into it. Carried by the immense momentum and force, the van's rear swung around its front end. Shen Lian had already reversed back, his tires screeching harshly, and wedged his car between the van's rear and the mountainside just before they collided.
That effectively dampened the worst of the impact. The sports car was squeezed slightly out of shape, but the driver's seat remained safe.
Shen Lian grabbed the Window Breaker from beneath his seat and flicked it out as he got out of the car, extending it like a long baton.
The van's door opened before he reached it. The first man crawled out on all fours, lowered his head, and vomited.
Shen Lian kicked him aside and brought the baton down on the head of the second man who lunged at him.
The man howled, clutching his head as he rolled on the ground.
Farther inside sat Chang Qing, who had pulled off his hood amid the chaos.
Panting, Chang Qing met Shen Lian's gaze with a smile.
Shen Lian braced himself against the door and leaned down. "How are you?"
"Fine," Chang Qing replied. "Just the right amount of impact.
