Unlike the rigid format of fashion week, models at the National Trend Gala generally carried a prop and interacted with it when they reached the middle of the stage.
This was not just to make the show more interesting. Most of the models were not professionals, and simply having them walk might fall flat. Props would help them feel more at ease onstage.
Choosing a prop was therefore an important step.
Common props included all kinds of fans, lanterns, swords, and pipas. The less common ones came in every variety: willow branches, hand warmers, and even live animals, such as cats and rabbits.
