Pei Hang looked at the score, not particularly satisfied. He still felt he hadn't played his best.
He was about to offer a couple of excuses when he turned and saw Qin Buran smiling at him.
Suddenly, Pei Hang felt he'd actually done pretty well.
"Well?" Pei Hang walked over. "Still think that three thousand was impressive?"
Qin Buran shook his head and said with a smile, "You're more impressive."
Pei Hang raised an eyebrow, as if to say, Exactly.
No sooner had Pei Hang left than several people approached the basketball machine, eager to try.
Perhaps seeing how effortlessly Pei Hang had scored had given them the illusion that they could do it too.
They lined up and made several attempts. Their best score was [1960]-a whole digit shorter than Pei Hang's.
Sitting on a nearby chair, Qin Buran praised him. "You're so good. None of them can beat you."
Pei Hang chuckled and sat down beside Qin Buran. "I used to come here a lot as a kid."
"I didn't take school seriously. I'd deliberately show up late, and when the teacher made me stand in the hallway, I'd sneak out." Pei Hang had only mentioned it in passing, but when he turned and found Qin Buran listening intently, he went on. "Arcades were pretty cheap back then."
"I had fifty yuan in pocket money. That could get me over a hundred tokens."
Qin Buran loved listening to Pei Hang talk about his past.
It was strange, really. They weren't that far apart in age, yet their childhood stories sounded like they came from two different worlds.
"What are you thinking about?" Pei Hang looked at him.
Qin Buran shook his head. "Nothing."
"What does 'nothing' mean?"
"It's just..." Qin Buran took a deep breath.
