Time rewound to the previous night...
"...Tonight, we're attacking Votradnoi!!!"
When Connie announced this to the players in a small grove, they immediately burst into cheers.
Connie's plan sounded utterly unreliable, something a leader had dreamed up on a whim. There was neither a detailed battle plan nor dependable logistical support, and they didn't even have proper siege equipment.
But that only made the players more excited.
"Holy shit! A night raid? This is gonna be wild!"
"An NPC leading the shenanigans? Love it!"
"Wait, we don't even have ladders. How are we supposed to storm the walls?"
"Climb? What do you think your hands and feet are for?"
Watching her eager subordinates chatter away, Connie's lips curled into a faint smile.
She had thought at least a few people would question her plan, or even refuse to carry out such a near-suicidal mission. Yet these warband soldiers truly lived up to their reputation as the Prince's elite subordinates.
Not only did they show no fear, but every one of them was itching for action. Some had even started rummaging through their packs for homemade Molotov Cocktails.
Wonderful. With subordinates like these, how could I possibly fail to achieve great things?
"Ma'am, are you sure you want to move tonight?"
The adjutant Chris had assigned to Connie specifically to command the Intelligence Officer's provisional Infantry Regiment lowered his voice, his face pale.
"We haven't even scouted the height of the walls..."
Connie glanced at her subordinates, who were enthusiastically discussing "how to pile up wood and corpses into a siege ladder," then turned back to the adjutant with a scornful look.
"Is that supposed to be a problem?"
The adjutant fell silent.
He desperately wanted to retort, How is that not a problem?
Although Votradnoi was now an empty city
