Across the smoke-filled plain, hoofbeats thundered closer as hundreds of Bohemian Light Cavalry charged through the bombardment zone at full gallop.
They were so close that Aku could already see the dazzling, cold glint of their sabers and scimitars beneath the blazing sun.
"Hurry, brothers! Hollow Square Formation!"
Aku leaped onto a wagon that had taken a cannonball but had not yet completely fallen apart and roared, waving his flintlock hard to catch the other players' attention.
At a moment this desperate, whoever dared step forward and give orders could generally count on the players to obey.
Besides Aku, several other players with some standing were gathering nearby players into formations elsewhere.
Aku's hollow square formed remarkably quickly. As though pulled by invisible threads, the scattered players moved into position at astonishing speed, gathering around him. By the time the Bohemian Light Cavalry were a hundred meters away, the outline of a hollow square was already in place.
Over a hundred players formed up in front of Aku. The first rank crouched to reload, the second held their guns ready, the third had their bayonets drawn, and the fourth served as a reserve, filling out both sides. Only the rear remained open... there were too few people and too little time.
Plenty of idiot players were still running around nearby or foolishly firing at will.
Still, there was no denying that those players' shots were accomplishing something. At least some of the Bohemian Light Cavalry suddenly fell from their horses more than two hundred meters away under their fire.
Those players' shots were responsible. Even beyond effective range, a lead bullet that had flown a long way could still kill.
If a bullet struck a Bohemian cavalryman, it would certainly penetrate his leather armor. Yet when bullets struck the horses
