The battle for Tavitsky was important. Players fought there without regard for their lives, and the Minisians who had massed troops along the border refused to concede, continually committing more soldiers to fight the players inside.
Strangely, however, as time went on, the other Minisian reinforcements that should have rushed to Tavitsky to support the battlefield still failed to appear.
As a result, when Mia led the Barbarian supply convoy toward Tavitsky, she encountered no unexpected interception. Under cover of night, they simply delivered the supplies the players desperately needed, then quickly withdrew.
In and out. The entire operation went incredibly smoothly.
It left the players in the city wondering whether the Minisians had lost their minds.
The reason things had turned out this way, however, was that Tavitsky no longer mattered much to the Minisians. News of the old king Albert III's death had already spread.
Compared with gaining or losing a city, the royal succession clearly deserved more attention from those powerful figures... except for Minisia's Seventh Legion. Without reinforcements, however, they could not drive the players out of the city.
Crouching Tiger Cannons and muskets thundered through the city day and night, but the Minisians outside had collectively forgotten it. That included Lieutenant General Norton in the Border Fortress just over thirty kilometers away.
He deliberately ignored Tavitsky, simply because he wanted nothing to do with the city, lest someone accuse him of involvement in Albert III's death.
Politics was unreasonable. It was not even rational, especially when the throne was at stake. Everyone involved would become hysterical.
Rather than supporting Tavitsky, Lieutenant General Norton cared more about the endless stream of envoys seeking him out... the eldest prince's envoys and the second princess's people. All of them offered Norton one generous inducement after another.
