"Everyone's gone. I don't know where they went. I'm so scared." A little girl in a linen shirt sat by the roadside, her face grimy, sobbing quietly.
The little girl's sobs were eerie, but Liu Siting's expression remained unchanged as she clicked her mouse and listened to the whole thing.
Before long, the eight detectives settled down to spend the night in the village.
Night fell, and the eight detectives split into four pairs, staying overnight in the villagers' homes.
A strange cry outside woke you. Will you get up and investigate? Ignore it and sleep! Wake your companion and investigate together.
The three lines of text appeared. Liu Siting glanced at the others' screens; all of them displayed the same two choices.
The choices in this detective game weren't just for show. Sometimes, they could lead to deadly situations.
Going outside could get them killed. Continuing to sleep could allow another murder to happen. If they kept ignoring it, they might be the next to die.
But all eight chose the same option: investigate.
Liu Siting's character slowly got up. Her companion got up too, and they walked outside.
After investigating, they discovered that the little girl had disappeared.
At the foot of the mountain behind the village, they found a shoe belonging to her.
At that point, the game presented two more choices.
One was "Head up the mountain to investigate," and the other was "Forget about her and sleep."
The eight clicked their mice and crept up the mountain together.
There were footprints along the mountain path, faintly recognizable as those of adults.
The trail had many forks, and the scenery on their screens was dark, making it easy
