Li Chen looked down at the two women, appraising them.

Gwyneth was like a ripe peach, her red dress revealing every curve of her figure; Mariana was like a carefully wrapped gift, her high-necked gown concealing every inch of skin, yet leaving all the more to the imagination.

"Follow me to the Confessional."

The so-called Confessional was, quite obviously, Li Chen's room.

Inside the Confessional, the candle flames shone golden beneath the holy light.

Li Chen sat upright in a gilded chair. He deliberately let the silence stretch for a full three minutes, until he heard Mariana's breathing grow uneven.

"The third section of the Book of Repentance. Kneel and recite it."

Mariana immediately straightened her back, folded her hands over her abdomen, and began reciting the scripture in flawless Holy See language.

Her voice was clear and pleasing, every syllable carrying a devout tremor.

Gwyneth lounged to one side, her red hair falling over the scripture.

She knew what would come next.

After all, she knew exactly who had been the last person to confess.

Not only was she no longer afraid, she was beginning to look forward to it.

"Your posture." Li Chen tapped his scepter against the floor.

Gwyneth reluctantly adjusted her kneeling posture, almost as though she were acting coy, while Mariana had already straightened her back further of her own accord.

Li Chen was quietly pleased. This was exactly what he needed: a perfect model of the Holy See.

"Remove your outer garments."

Gwyneth deftly undid her waist ties, and her red dress slipped down like flower petals.

Mariana's fingertips, however, froze at her collar. Its high-necked design had no fewer than seven concealed fastenings.

"Do you need help?" Li Chen's voice carried unquestionable authority.

"No... I can do it myself." Mariana drew a deep
