The aim was to prevent anything that might damage the Holy See's reputation, so many bishops, and even Red-robed Cardinals, behaved themselves and strictly obeyed the Holy See's rules.
At least on the surface, they were not so brazen. Whatever they wanted to do, they did in private, rather than acting as recklessly as Li Chen.
The reason he acted with such abandon, and why no one intervened even after his reputation as a "lecher" had spread, was simple.
There really was no one to rein him in!
As a member of the Papal Guard, that title alone meant that only the Pope could exercise authority over him.
Given the Pope's standing, how could he possibly oversee everything alone across a realm as vast as the Eternal Day Empire?
Besides, the Pope had to attend all manner of ceremonies, enter seclusion to listen to God's will, and even properly manage relations between the Holy See and the Imperial House.
Li Chen knew that this would reach the Pope's ears sooner or later. When the Pope saw Li Chen, he would naturally know what this fellow was doing.
Li Chen merely wanted to see whether, as his influence continued to grow, the Pope would find himself unable to save face if one day Li Chen's influence in the Eternal Day Empire surpassed his own.
The scene then would surely be spectacular.
For now, Li Chen only moved within Holy Scion and Holy See circles. Opportunities to enter aristocratic circles were rare, and this was a good one.
As for the other two, lower strata, Li Chen had no intention of approaching them for the time being.
After all, under this country's system, even if those in the
