Ivan frowned deeply and looked at Romanov. "Ancestor, how should we respond now?"
It was not that he refused to think for himself. He simply felt that, when it came to strategy, his ancestor's experience far surpassed his own.
A cold gleam flashed in Romanov's eyes as he sneered. "The Witch Ancestor's move is meant to force us out into the open and into a direct confrontation with him. We must not grant his wish and throw our own ranks into disarray."
Ivan remained worried. "But if we leave Matvei at the Witch Ancestor's side, I fear complications will arise as time passes."
He had also guessed Li Chen's intention: to sever their connection with Matvei.
Although Matvei was his most useless son, that was precisely what made him easy to control. Conversely, it would be just as easy for the Witch Ancestor to control him.
He feared that the Witch Ancestor would use Matvei to do something they could not anticipate.
