Marco Witt froze, then stared at Chen Mu with some displeasure. "Please don't joke around. Our time is expensive." At fifty contribution points an hour, it certainly qualified as expensive. He felt that the youth was making fun of him. A beginner? Were there any beginners in this base? In a place crawling with experts, how could a beginner possibly have room to survive?

"I'm not joking. I'm a Card Crafter." Chen Mu remained calm, showing no nervousness before Marco Witt. "I'm interested in close-combat Card Adepts, so I'd like to learn."

"You're a Card Crafter?" Marco Witt eyed the youth dubiously. Only then did he notice that the youth had not the slightest air of a Card Adept about him. He probably was a beginner. Marco Witt could not help frowning slightly. During his time as commander of a Card Adept corps, he had given pointers to several close-combat Card Adepts in the corps, but he had never taught an absolute novice.

"I suggest you find a junior close-combat Card Adept who specializes in teaching beginners. They may not be very strong, but their teaching is more systematic and professional." Marco Witt offered a sound suggestion.
