Following behind Jeeves, Chen Mu browsed the goods in the trading area. Setting up a stall here cost very little, and anyone who had brought something back could put it up for sale. Of course, there were not many Card Adepts here, and the things available for trade were pitifully few. Most people sold their goods to the trading company, though the prices were considerably lower.
Considering the distance from here to the city, however, those prices were still fairly reasonable.
The sparsely scattered stalls had very limited selections. Illusion Cards were the most common goods, but none were particularly high-grade.
Seeing Chen Mu's puzzled expression, Jeeves explained, "Most of these Illusion Cards were taken as loot. They have no use for them themselves, but the trading company pays far too little, so they bring them here to exchange for Energy Cards. Energy Cards are hard currency here, more useful than Money Cards. If you have plenty of Energy Cards, you can trade directly with them."
It was hard to imagine that inside such an advanced base, trade could be so primitive and simple.
Although Chen Mu showed little expression, Jeeves immediately understood that his client was clearly dissatisfied with this place.
That lifted his spirits a little. If these goods failed to satisfy them, they must need something of a higher grade, and higher-grade goods often meant higher prices.
Suppressing his excitement, he asked cautiously, "What sort of goods are you looking for? Raw materials? Or finished Card Machinery? There are also specialized outlets for cards here, though their prices are somewhat higher than in the city."
"Raw materials," Chen Mu said. Beside him, Bagnell added, "We can look at finished Card Machinery too, if the quality is good. But don't show us any run-of-the-mill stuff."
"Raw materials?" This
