Mobley bent down with a grave expression and carefully turned over the Xi Bird corpses. Every corpse was riddled with bloody holes. He finally understood why the other party had no interest in the birds' wing hides. Looking at those sieve-like hides, what use could they possibly have?
"Boss, are we just going to let this go?" one member could not help asking.
"Exactly! We spent three months finally tracking down this flock of Xi Birds and chasing them all this way, only for these guys to kill them! How are we supposed to swallow that?" another member chimed in.
The other members all looked at Mobley. They had exhausted themselves over this flock of Xi Birds for three whole months, only for those people to reap the harvest without lifting a finger to cultivate it. How could they not burn with indignation?
Mobley, already in a foul mood, gave the two troublemakers a cold look and snorted heavily. "Shut up! Have you got pig brains? We've been dealing with these Xi Birds for so long. Don't you know how cunning and powerful these beasts are? Look at these corpses. They've all been shot full of holes! Can't you tell how strong those people must be?"
Everyone immediately fell silent. How could they not know their commander was right? A flock of Xi Birds that had kept them running in circles for so long was certainly not to be underestimated. And the squad that had wiped out that flock here was definitely no less formidable.
"If we hadn't wanted intact wing hides, they wouldn't have had a chance," the first Card Adept muttered despite himself.
"Enough." Mobley could no longer be bothered to argue with the stubborn fool. "We drove the Xi Birds here, and luckily, we ran into them.
