The trees in the Jungle towered overhead, their immense trunks so thick that seven or eight people would have had to join hands to encircle them. Their crowns stood more than twenty meters above the ground. Every tree was enormous, with broad gaps between them and deep snow covering the ground, without a shrub in sight. This was precisely what allowed the Snow Shuttle to maneuver freely through the Jungle. Still, it traveled slowly to avoid hitting the trunks.
Sunlight could not penetrate the thick canopy. The Jungle lay in gloom, its looming tree shadows looking rather frightening. The passengers aboard had long since huddled together in terror, trembling. Afraid of provoking these vicious outlaws, none dared make a sound as they cried.
More than a dozen Card Adepts guarded the Snow Shuttle cautiously, remaining on high alert. They could not hide the fatigue on their faces. Killing the Card Adepts escorting this Snow Shuttle had drained a great deal of their strength. Although they had cleverly used the Blazing-Eyed Ancestor Birds to lead the assault, their opponents' desperate counterattack before death had still given them considerable trouble.
Battles between Card Adepts were a matter of life or death. No one dared relax in the slightest, even with every advantage on their side.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Suddenly, a strange whistling, like wind blowing through an exceedingly narrow crack, approached at tremendous speed. Without needing a warning, all the Card Adepts stopped and braced themselves. The Snow Shuttle stopped as well. The two Card Adepts aboard stood up nervously and walked to the open cabin door.
"Watch out! Snowwave Bats!"
One Card Adept screamed the warning, a trace of fear in his voice. The other Card Adepts' expressions changed slightly in unison, and the light of every Energy Shield around them
