Chen Mu had not expected to run into enemies so suddenly. In his panicked flight, he had not even known which direction he was heading. But his reaction was lightning-fast, and he instinctively changed course. His body suddenly rippled like a wave at an astonishing frequency, making the air around him crackle.
Mota's expression shifted slightly.
He recognized that change of direction. Its technical name was Waveform High-Frequency Evasion. It was an extremely difficult tactical maneuver that very few people could execute, and it carried a consistently high score in flight assessments. Almost no one chose it for their Card Adept rank evaluation, despite the tremendous number of points it offered.
He was certain that if this fellow entered a Card Adept rank evaluation, he would earn a frighteningly high score. One crucial measure of successful Waveform High-Frequency Evasion was the popping of the air, something that could only occur once a certain frequency was reached. This fellow's pops were crisp and loud, proof that his execution was absolutely textbook.
Among the Card Adepts he knew, only Boss and that devious fellow who captained the seventh squad could pull off this move. No one else could, himself included. He could not say for certain whether Boss could execute it this beautifully, but the seventh squad's captain definitely could not perform it so perfectly!
An expert! An absolute expert! To think he would encounter someone this skilled here-how could it not set his blood boiling?
Mota felt as though his blood had grown so hot it was about to ignite. Everything else vanished from his mind. All he wanted now was a good, no-holds-barred fight with this opponent.
With battle intent surging through him, Mota was just about to order his men to surround the fellow when his expression changed drastically.
