Sang Hanshui hid in the clouds. To stay concealed, he could not activate his Energy Shield. Though there was no wind inside the clouds, tiny ice crystals kept falling against his face, making him shiver with cold. After so many years of pampered living, he had not suffered like this in a long time, but he felt not a trace of resentment.
Because his boss was right beside him, likewise without an Energy Shield.
His boss had been using [Snake Mirror] the whole time, his expression remaining grave. Sang Hanshui felt a certain awe toward his young employer. The ruthlessness and decisiveness of his methods far surpassed those of the supposedly renowned Card Adepts. What they were doing now was proof enough: five against twenty. An ordinary person would have fled with his tail between his legs long ago. Only someone as formidable as his boss would choose to strike first!
The clouds were thick and dense. Not just a few people-even several hundred could hide inside them without being easily detected.
In truth, Sang Hanshui was still a little nervous. After all, their opponents not only outnumbered them, but were also far stronger. Twenty elite Card Adepts from the Federation Comprehensive Academy, ten of them at Level Seven or above-such a lineup could only be called lavish. Had he not found his boss's plan quite feasible, he probably would not even have had the courage to join the fight.
If the Pursuit Corps really took this route, his boss's prediction would be correct, and the entire battle plan would stand a much greater chance of success. If they never encountered the Pursuit Corps, however, that would mean the enemy had taken another route, leaving them at least some room to escape.
There's no shame in running, Sang Hanshui thought.
