The Federation's First Legion.
The soldiers began their daily training as usual. Although unrest gripped the Federation, it had not reached the military camp. The camp was like a secluded paradise, untouched by the turmoil, but the First Legion had always maintained strict discipline, and its daily training was extraordinarily grueling.
Compared with the soldiers sweating outside, the staff officers had much easier work. They drank coffee and chatted leisurely in small groups.
Suddenly, a shrill assembly signal rang out!
The staff headquarters fell silent at once, and everyone stopped what they were doing. In an instant, the atmosphere grew intensely strained, and the leisure vanished from the staff officers' faces.
"Emergency orders! All staff personnel are to assemble in Hall No. 1 within five minutes!"
Crash! A coffee cup fell to the floor and shattered, but no one paid it any attention. Casting aside their usual decorum, they broke into a sprint. This was no joke. Even at top speed, reaching Hall No. 1 from headquarters took three minutes. They dared not arrive late. Military law showed no mercy to anyone late for an emergency assembly.
By the time these habitually sedentary staff officers had run themselves ragged getting to Hall No. 1, a large number of staff personnel and many mid-ranking officers had already gathered there.
Everyone wore a grave expression. No one knew why this assembly had been called.
Was war about to break out?
They found seats and sat down as quickly as possible. In the blink of an eye, the vast auditorium was packed with people, yet not a sound could be heard.
A huge light screen sprang up at the front of the auditorium. Legion Commander Wei Yueqing stood before it, surveying the tense staff officers and military officers with a rather satisfied expression.
