Over those thirty days, they killed hundreds of beasts. Among them were more than twenty Shadow Edges, while the fifteenth-ranked Black Nether Python and the fourteenth-ranked Bone-Spike Rhino also met violent deaths at their hands. As for other, nameless creatures, they killed even more.
Thirty days was not long, but for the two of them, who had endured such bloody slaughter, it felt as though a lifetime had passed. They were far stronger than before, especially Chen Mu, whose abilities improved even more rapidly across the board. In the Federation, there had been few battles that required his personal involvement. In the Hundred Abysses, every day brought intense combat, nothing but naked slaughter and the struggle between life and death.
Thirty days of tempering had made him a different person, reborn down to his very bones.
"I'm running low on Energy Cards." Chen Mu frowned. Their constant fighting over the past several days had consumed an enormous amount of energy. Fortunately, he habitually carried large quantities of Energy Cards, or he would never have lasted this long. If he exhausted his supply, his combat strength would plummet. His mastery of uncard flow was passable against ordinary Card Adepts, but woefully inadequate against these ferocious beasts.
The Devil Woman's hands paused briefly before resuming their movements. "Then what do we do?"
With a headache brewing, Chen Mu took everything out of his waist pouch: the [Weak Water] pen, assorted cards, Money Cards, and so on, with a few small lumps of mud scattered among them. Money Cards were not worth a penny here. As for the other cards, without Energy Cards, they were nothing but a pile of wastepaper.
His gaze fell on those small lumps of black mud, and delight flooded through him. How had he forgotten these little things?
