The Devil Woman tilted her face up toward Chen Mu, suspended in midair. He felt the pressure around his waist loosen, and he plunged downward. Before he could cry out, it tightened again, leaving him hanging in the air, almost within arm's reach of her.
Perfect! Chen Mu's eyes lit up. If I can grab this woman, I'll have the upper hand!
But her reactions were clearly faster than his, and her methods far more unpredictable.
The bindings around Chen Mu's hands and feet abruptly tightened. Then his bound limbs began drawing together, swiftly bending his body into a bow, face down! At some point, that uncanny black vine had wound around his hands and feet without him noticing a thing.
The section of black vine around his waist suddenly loosened and slowly slid away. The sensation of it slithering across his bare skin made every hair on his body stand on end.
What baffled him most was that he had never even seen the Devil Woman make any gesture to direct the black vine. This unnatural phenomenon sent chills welling up from the depths of his heart again and again. Even facing a high-level Card Adept would not have made him this tense. This time, however, he was confronting something he did not understand at all.
At the end of the day, Chen Mu was just an ordinary person. At least, that was how he saw himself.
His hands and feet were bound together behind his back, and he hung from the knot, looking like a piglet about to be gutted.
If only my Perception were stronger! With sufficiently powerful Perception, he would not need his hands to activate his Wrist Device. He could do it through Perception alone, and that would give him a slim chance of survival.
