Background / History
Arrival in Wutan City
Lei Le was the grandson of Lei Ou Mittel, a Dou Ling expert and Mittel Family elder. After learning that Ya Fei possessed spiritual medicines capable of improving cultivation and aptitude, he traveled from the Jia Ma Imperial Capital to Wutan City with a Da Dou Shi bodyguard. He sought both to force Ya Fei into marriage and to obtain her rare spiritual plants 36.
His grandfather’s influence made direct opposition difficult despite Ya Fei’s superior personal strength. Lei Le bribed or threatened auction-house personnel, weakening her control over the branch. When she secretly sold spiritual produce despite his interference, he began inspecting auction lots daily and confiscating desirable items. These inspections became a means of damaging her business performance and pressuring her to meet him 36 39.
His seizure of consigned Foundation Establishment Spirit Liquid also threatened the branch’s relationship with its valuable alchemist supplier. Ya Fei compensated the disguised Xiao Yan by purchasing the consignment outright for 40,000 gold coins 36 37.
Assault on Xiao Qin
Lei Le attempted to force his way into a VIP room while Ya Fei entertained an important guest. When Xiao Qin blocked him, he struck her with a Dou Qi-enhanced slap intended to kill her. Embarrassed that she survived without grave injuries, he advanced to attack again 38 39.
Ya Fei intervened and slapped him away, breaking bones and teeth. Lei Le ordered his bodyguard to kill both women. When the guard hesitated over the consequences of attacking Ya Fei, he offered to take responsibility before the family and invoked the possibility that her medicinal herbs could enable a breakthrough to Dou Ling. This appeal to greed persuaded the guard to advance 39.
Defeat and Death
Xia Kong returned before Ya Fei activated the auction house’s concealed sleeping-smoke defenses. After learning of Xia Kong’s closeness to her, Lei Le became jealous and ordered Carl, his bodyguard, to kill them and extract the method of controlling their magical-beast mount. He also offered to conceal the incident if Ya Fei submitted to him 40 41.
Xia Kong’s first sword-energy attack severed Lei Le’s right ear after Carl narrowly pulled him aside. Carl blocked the second strike, leaving Lei Le trembling and silent. While Xia Kong fought her, Ya Fei’s followers killed Lei Le. Carl subsequently attempted to escape but was also killed 41.
Personality
Lei Le was entitled, vindictive, and acutely sensitive to public humiliation. He treated family influence as permission to seize auction goods, intrude on private meetings, and attack subordinates. His failure to seriously injure Xiao Qin provoked another attempted assault, while Ya Fei’s retaliation prompted immediate demands for murder 36 38 39.
Despite his reckless conduct, he understood how to manipulate others’ ambitions: he overcame his guard’s reluctance by promising protection and access to resources for advancement. His arrogance collapsed when Xia Kong wounded him, prompting a desperate appeal for rescue 39 41.
