After finishing, he checked it over again. Satisfied that the wording was appropriate, he folded the letter and slipped it into an envelope. Of course he knew that, as the young master of the Clear Sky Sect, his family had resources to spare.
Mystic Water Pills could increase the speed of Soul Power cultivation, while Soul Ascension Pills could help overcome bottlenecks. For Huo Yuhao as he was now, these two items were nothing short of charcoal delivered in a snowstorm.
Wang Dong put the letter away, a smile curling his lips. He certainly wasn't foolish enough to play the pig to eat the tiger. Since he had connections and resources, he would make full use of them.
Huo Yuhao's talent wasn't bad; he simply lacked resources and guidance. With enough support, he would soon soar into the sky.
When Wang Dong left the dormitory after writing his letter, night had already fallen. From a distance, he saw bright lights and a bustling crowd at the academy gates, with a queue stretching out like a long dragon.
Wang Dong paused, then went closer for a look. Good grief! Huo Yuhao's grilled fish stall was surrounded by layer upon layer of people, and the line nearly reached the street corner.
The fragrance of grilled fish drifted through the night breeze, whetting everyone's appetite. Quite a few people chatted as they waited in line.
"Isn't this grilled fish ridiculously good? I've never eaten grilled fish that smelled this amazing!"
"And look at the little girl grilling it. Pretty and a great cook-what a catch!"
"Exactly! Imagine marrying her when she grows up!"
"Forget it. How old is she? Could you really bring yourself to do that?"
"I was just saying..."
Wang Dong's expression instantly darkened. Standing at the back of the line, he watched the boys ahead appraising Huo Yuhao, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
Good grief, little Miss Huo's charm really was something else. It was only his first day running a stall, and he had already attracted so many frenzied bees and fluttering butterflies.
Just as Wang Dong was wondering whether to go over and back Huo Yuhao up, a commotion suddenly broke out ahead.
Wang Dong frowned and hurried forward. In front of the fish stall, a red-haired youth and a blue-haired youth were arguing until their faces flushed crimson.
"Bei Bei, let me have this fish! My Nannan hasn't had any yet!" The red-haired youth clutched a grilled fish, refusing to let go.
"Get lost! I was here first!" The blue-haired youth held the other end in a death grip. "My Xiaoya loves this too!"
"Let go!"
"You let go!"
The two tugged back and forth, neither willing to give an inch, and the scene descended into chaos.
Behind them stood a green-haired girl and a girl with delicate, lovely features: Tang Ya and Jiang Nannan.
Tang Ya watched Bei Bei helplessly, while Jiang Nannan blushed, wishing she could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
Huo Yuhao stood behind the grill, spatula in hand, at a loss as he watched the farce unfold. Just as he was about to offer a few words to calm them down, he caught sight of a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye.
His eyes lit up. Without another word, he picked up a golden, crisp grilled fish from beside him and held it out to the newcomer.
"Here, have this. I saved it for you."
Wang Dong looked at the fish before him, then at Huo Yuhao's sparkling eyes, and warmth filled his heart. With a chuckle, he took it and bit off a generous mouthful.
The fish was crisp outside and tender within, melting in his mouth with a distinctive hint of spices. It really was delicious.
That, however, thoroughly infuriated the red-haired youth beside them.
"How dare you!" Xu Sanshi's eyes widened. Abandoning his struggle over the fish, he pointed straight at Wang Dong's nose and snapped,
"Who the hell are you? How dare you cut in front of me! And you..." He turned toward Huo Yuhao.
"What's wrong with you, little girl? I've been waiting here forever, and instead of giving me a fish, you give him one first?"
Huo Yuhao shrank back at his harsh tone and explained quietly, "He... he's my friend."
"Friends don't get special treatment!" Xu Sanshi looked indignant. "I, Xu Sanshi, have been at Shrek Academy for years, and nobody has ever dared cut in front of me!"
Bei Bei couldn't stand watching any longer and was about to speak up in their defense, but Wang Dong stepped forward first.
He calmly swallowed the last mouthful of fish, wiped his mouth, and looked at Xu Sanshi. "If you want grilled fish, that's fine. I can have Yuhao keep grilling right now. You can eat as much as you like."
Xu Sanshi froze. "Then why did you just..."
"But..." Wang Dong changed tack, his lips curling into something between a smile and a smirk. "That treatment is reserved for the strong. You? You don't qualify."
Silence fell over the crowd.
Everyone stared at Wang Dong, dumbstruck. Was this fellow crazy? Did he know who was standing in front of him? Xu Sanshi was one of the outer court's twin stars at Shrek Academy, already approaching Four-Ring Soul Ancestor at fourteen!
To the freshmen, he was an insurmountable mountain. Yet this kid dared tell him he didn't qualify in front of so many people?
Xu Sanshi's face instantly fell. Narrowing his eyes, he looked Wang Dong up and down, his voice taking on a dangerous edge. "Kid, you've got guts. Do you know who I am?"
"Of course." Wang Dong shrugged. "Xu Sanshi, one of the outer court's twin stars. I hear you're almost a Four-Ring Soul Ancestor. Pretty impressive."
"And you still dare talk to me like that?" Xu Sanshi sneered. "Do you think I'm good-tempered?"
"I don't know whether you're good-tempered." Wang Dong looked at him, a trace of provocation in his voice. "But I do know that if you really had any ability, you wouldn't be fighting someone over a grilled fish."
Xu Sanshi's expression turned utterly black. In all his life, nobody had ever dared speak to him like this.
He drew a deep breath and suddenly smiled, though his smile carried a chill.
"Fine, kid. You've got guts. Dare to fight me? If you win, I'll let today's incident go."
"A fight is fine." Wang Dong nodded. "But just fighting is boring. We need a wager."
"What wager?"
"If I win, you give me a Mystic Water Pill." Wang Dong looked at him, his tone casual. "I hear your Netherworld Sect produces Mystic Water Pills. Getting one shouldn't be hard for you, should it?"
Xu Sanshi's pupils contracted slightly. How did this kid know he had a Mystic Water Pill? He did indeed carry one with him, provided by his family for cultivation, just in case he needed it.
But he had never shown it to anyone outside the family. How did this kid know?
He stared at Wang Dong for a long while before finally snorting. "Fine, I agree. But..." He changed tack, a confident smile curling his lips.
"Don't say I'm bullying a freshman. I'll stand still and let you attack. If you can break through my defense, you win. How about it?"
Another uproar swept through the crowd. Standing still and letting a freshman attack? It sounded like he was going easy on him, but with Xu Sanshi's defensive strength approaching that of a Four-Ring Soul Ancestor, even a full-power strike from a Four-Ring Soul Ancestor might not break through, let alone an attack from a freshman.
This was a guaranteed win.
Yet Wang Dong smiled.
"All right." He nodded. "It's settled, then."
Behind the grill, Huo Yuhao watched Wang Dong with some concern. Although he knew Wang Dong was strong, his opponent was Xu Sanshi, one of the outer court's twin stars.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, only to see Wang Dong turn back and smile at him. There was something in that smile that inexplicably set his heart at ease.
P.S. There won't be too many heroines; not everyone will be added to the harem.
For now, Huo Yuhao and the Three-Eyed Golden Lion!
