Background / History
Departure and Zhu Zhuqing’s Search
Dai Mubai fled before the Rose Hotel encounter. Zhu Zhuqing believed he had left to concentrate on cultivation, while her own life in the Star Luo Empire became harder: others avoided her, and she felt unable to control her fate. Finding him with the twin sisters shattered that expectation; she instead saw him as indulging in pleasure while she suffered 11.
Rose Hotel Confrontation
At Suotuo City’s Rose Hotel, Dai Mubai fought Tang San, becoming acquainted with him through their exchanges. Their duel paused when Chu Sheng and Ning Rongrong’s argument drew the lobby’s attention. Dai Mubai suspected that Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Ning Rongrong were prospective Shrek students because of their ages, cultivation, and arrival near enrollment time 9.
When Chu Sheng challenged the people in the lobby, Dai Mubai joined Tang San and Xiao Wu against him. Initially skeptical of Chu Sheng’s refusal to release his martial soul, he became cautious after witnessing Chu Sheng exchange places with Tang San. Dai Mubai activated two defensive enhancements and attacked while retaining enough strength to withdraw if another exchange occurred. Chu Sheng nevertheless imprisoned all three opponents in separate Spatial Cages 10.
Chu Sheng placed the twin sisters inside Dai Mubai’s enclosure, where Zhu Zhuqing saw them together. Dai Mubai could see events outside his cage and heard Zhu Zhuqing’s conversation with Chu Sheng. After being released, he recognized her but departed with the twins, suppressing his anger because he knew he could not defeat Chu Sheng. He told Tang San and Xiao Wu that he would await them at Shrek Academy 11 12.
Forest Expedition and Academy Training
Dai Mubai accompanied the Shrek group into the Star Dou Great Forest. Following the Titan Giant Ape encounter, he, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun were injured and despondent over Xiao Wu’s disappearance and Tang San’s dangerous soul-ring absorption. The party eventually left safely after Xiao Wu returned and Tang San recovered 14 16.
During Yu Xiaogang’s training, Dai Mubai objected to banning Tang San’s third soul skill, since he was five levels stronger. Tang San promptly demonstrated Spider Web Restraint and left him unable to escape. In their rematch without that skill, Dai Mubai tore through Tang San’s vines and closed in, only to stop when Tang San broke his hand trying to block a palm strike 18.
Dai Mubai insisted that the injury was unexpected rather than deliberate. Although defensive about being blamed, he planned to buy Tang San medicine while visiting town with Oscar and Ma Hongjun 19.

Personality
Dai Mubai is proud of his strength and sensitive to being underestimated. He resents Yu Xiaogang restricting a younger, lower-level opponent during their spar. However, he adjusts his tactics when confronted with unfamiliar abilities and restrains his anger toward Chu Sheng once the difference in their strength becomes clear 10 12 18.
His indulgent behavior deeply disappoints Zhu Zhuqing, but he also shows consideration toward his academy companions. After accidentally injuring Tang San, he decides to purchase medicine, treating their shared life-and-death experiences as more important than lingering resentment 11 19.
