The Aeldari Titans finally leapt out of the heart of the bombardment. Their agile bodies moved nothing like constructs dozens of metres tall, as graceful as dancers amid the smoke of battle.
A Warlock Titan had been deployed as the Craftworld's ultimate weapon. The souls of former Warlocks were housed within it, alongside a living Warlock who provided psychic sight to those ancient warriors, allowing the ancestral spirits to see their enemies in the material world.
Supporting this mighty Titan were the few remaining Ghost Battle Titans and Wraith Scout Titans. The galaxy was not peaceful, and frequent deployment had greatly depleted the numbers of these "conventional" weapons.
But they were enough to deal with mortal troops.
The Titans easily tore open a breach. Before the artillery positions could adjust their guns, they were right in front of us. The jump devices fitted to the Wraith Scout Titans let them leap straight into battle once they had locked onto their targets.
This was no planetary battle. This was an Aeldari Craftworld. Any Titans operating outside would face bombardment from the Light of the People's naval guns.
Inside, not only was their clearance limited, but they also struggled to bring their full firepower to bear.
The Light of the People's shield-breaking beam struggled against the Craftworld's shield system, but it still effectively weakened the Aeldari's strange shields.
These bizarre defences had once withstood the Necrons' phase cannons. Now they buckled under the strain, like an aged giant driving withered muscles beneath broad shoulders to protect his final territory.
When the Light of the People approached almost "face-to-face" and entered the shield perimeter, the enemy's shields became completely ineffective. Naturally, so did ours.
The two hulls were only a few dozen kilometres apart. Given their size, that was already extremely close, but
