Within the surging Empyrean, wave after wave rose through the Warp.
Ever since the four mightiest deities of the Warp had fallen into slumber, the lesser beings beneath them had begun stirring up trouble, trying to seize the niches they had left behind.
The followers of the Four Gods continued to uphold their gods' doctrines. To these inhuman creatures of the Warp, the Four Gods' slumber was only temporary. As long as living beings remained in the Milky Way, their awakening was merely a matter of time.
Amid this conflict, chaotic warfare erupted in the Warp once more, making that already restless world of darkness even more turbulent.
Yet amid the inhuman howls and grotesque creatures, several figures slipped quietly past.
What stood out was their Power Armour, an ancient pattern once used by the Word Bearers, covered in blasphemous scripture and spells.
Not all Word Bearers were willing to follow Lorgar in worshipping that so-called "god of the Materium," just as they did not worship the Four Gods, but instead placed their faith in the many deities within the Warp.
"Enough! How much longer are we going to wander around here? These damned monsters have already killed so many of us!"
A furious roar shattered the squad's silence. The elder at the head of the group turned back in displeasure, his gaze brimming with murderous intent.
Erebus glared angrily at Kor Phaeron.
"You've led us astray, wandering along paths without order. We haven't received the gods' blessings. We've only kept becoming prey for the beasts of the Warp!"
"Your arrogant stupidity will get us all killed!"
At those words, the disgust on Kor Phaeron's face deepened.
But he keenly noticed that the other Word Bearers tacitly agreed with Erebus, and abandoned his intention to order them to kill him.
