The old woman's words were so flowery that Mito had no way to refute her.
"Oh, Mother, don't say it so bluntly. Uchiha Hikaru and I only just met. It's not as wonderful as you make it sound. I'm ignoring you—I still have clothes to wash."
With that, Mito hurriedly fled, while the old woman's gaze at Uchiha Hikaru grew increasingly meaningful.
It felt just like a mother-in-law looking at her son-in-law.
Of course, Uchiha Hikaru had no idea about any of this. After playing with Gon for a while, Mito invited him inside for a meal.
However, looking at the bread and vegetables on the table, Uchiha Hikaru had little appetite. He was used to eating meat and fish, or simply relying on Senzu Beans to stave off hunger.
Thinking of this, Uchiha Hikaru put down the bread in his hand, took out his bag of Senzu Beans, and poured one out for Gon.
"Kids need nutritious food. Later, I'll take you hunting by the sea. I found these beans during my travels around the world—they're miraculous treasures. Give one a try. One bean should keep you from needing food for an entire day, and it can strengthen your body too."
Upon hearing Uchiha Hikaru say that, all three of them widened their eyes.
Naturally, the old woman and Mito knew Uchiha Hikaru would not boast. Giving such a precious thing to a child was far too wasteful.
"You mustn't! You absolutely mustn't!"
Uchiha Hikaru smiled at the old woman.
"Gon is my disciple. Nothing is too good for my disciple."
As he spoke, Uchiha Hikaru placed the Senzu Bean in Gon's hand.
The little guy eagerly swallowed it and instantly felt the difference in his body.
"Th-That's amazing!"
He stared wide-eyed at the bag of Senzu Beans spinning
