"Uh..."
Jiraiya, walking ahead of him, instantly froze. Even the smile on his face stiffened, as though someone had struck his acupoints. His raised foot could neither come down nor step forward.
Did I do something wrong?
Listening to Jiraiya chatter nonstop beside him, Hikaru really wanted to kick him. This guy talked way too much. Hikaru also confirmed one thing: Jiraiya had never trained at the Training Ground before.
"Hikaru, when do you think we'll graduate?"
"I really want to grow up soon!!"
"How awful. They actually look down on me for being young and won't let me drink!!"
"Hikaru, aren't you tired? Want to take a break?"
Lying on the grass, Jiraiya gazed longingly at the sky, hoping he could graduate and grow up as soon as possible. That way, he could go drinking with girls openly.
"Phew~~~"
Jiraiya's words went in Hikaru's left ear and quickly drifted out of his right. It was no wonder Tsunade loved beating Jiraiya up. Even if Jiraiya didn't provoke her, his talent for nonstop chatter alone was enough to make Tsunade unable to suppress the primal force within her.
How had this guy become one of the Sannin? How had he become a Kage-level expert?
Though Hikaru wouldn't suddenly beat him up like Tsunade did, he still had his doubts. Could this Jiraiya really become the famous Toad Sage Jiraiya?
It wasn't that Hikaru liked overthinking things. Jiraiya simply didn't look the part at all!!!
"Phew... phew~~~"
Maybe he was too bored, or maybe he was genuinely sleepy. Jiraiya kept muttering to himself as his eyelids gradually began to droop. Then, then his snores started sounding out.
Perhaps he would only begin to grow after Tsunade and Orochimaru dealt him some harsh blows.
Seeing Jiraiya actually fall asleep from boredom, basking in the sun and snoring away without a care in the world, Hikaru could only think that his head might explode after he woke up.
"Achoo!!!"
"Achoo!!!"
In his sleep, Jiraiya suddenly felt a little cold and couldn't help sneezing several times before waking up.
"..."
Hikaru was gone. The sun was gone too. In their place, the moon hung high in the sky, with plenty of stars around it.
Realizing he had slept here until the middle of the night, Jiraiya was completely dumbfounded.
"Achoo!!!"
"Hikaru, that was really unkind of you! You went home without waking me up!!!"
"Achoo!!!"
The next day, Jiraiya arrived in the classroom sneezing, with two streams of snot dangling beneath his nose that made anyone who saw him want to stay far away. The first thing he did was accuse Hikaru of being unkind for going home without calling him.
Tsk tsk, poor kid.
Seeing Jiraiya in such a miserable state, Hikaru almost couldn't bear it. But he wasn't taking the blame for this. Spreading his hands, he said innocently:
"I did call you. But you said you wanted to sleep until the end of time—oh, together with your beautiful big sister—so I had no choice but to leave first."
"..."
Jiraiya's face darkened. He even forgot to suck his two streams of snot back in. They dangled from his nose like they were on a swing, swaying back and forth, nearly making intimate contact with his mouth.
"Get lost!!!"
"Don't disgust me, damn it!!!"
A shadow flashed, and Jiraiya flew out like a cannonball. Hikaru had wanted to smack him flying himself, but he didn't, because someone else couldn't resist jumping up first—Tsunade.
Jiraiya's dark face, blank expression, and the two streams of snot dangling from his nose and swaying nonstop nearly made Tsunade throw up what she had just eaten. Unable to endure it any longer, Tsunade struck.
He was usually perverted and disgusting enough already, and he still couldn't behave himself even when he was sick!!!
A beautiful big sister? Would he die if he didn't disgust people?
"Tsk tsk!!" Hikaru shrank back, silently mourning Jiraiya for three seconds. It was one thing when he said that to him—Hikaru would just ignore it—but saying it to Tsunade? Didn't he know this girl could fly into a rage at any moment?
In fact, Hikaru really had called Jiraiya. But the guy had been sleeping soundly and ignored him completely, waving him off and saying he wanted to sleep with his beautiful big sister until the end of time. Hikaru had no choice but to grant his wish.
Who knew he wouldn't make it to the end of time and would instead sleep until the middle of the night, catching a cold and sneezing nonstop? The two classic streams of clear snot kept bobbing up and down beneath his nose, and if he wasn't careful, they would start swinging.
"You went to the Training Ground?"
After smacking the disgusting Jiraiya away, Tsunade still wiped her hands with a look of distaste, afraid that Jiraiya's swinging snot might have gotten on them. Then she turned to look at Hikaru...
