And he did it right in front of the entire class!!
"?!!"
Tsunade, busy eating, froze when Hikaru raised his hand toward her. She looked at him without saying a word, her little cheeks puffed out and smeared with grease. She looked especially adorable, enough to make anyone want to pinch her little face.
Hikaru was not that perverted. Of course, he would not pinch Tsunade's little face.
He merely brushed the crumbs from the corner of Tsunade's mouth, nothing more. It had been an unconscious gesture, with no intent of teasing Tsunade whatsoever.
The moment Hikaru's hand touched her cheek, Tsunade's eyes widened. Her entire body tensed up. If Hikaru had made another move, she probably would have fought back immediately. Unfortunately, there was no next move. Hikaru withdrew his hand.
But when the other students saw that scene, it immediately took on a different meaning.
"Oooh~~~"
It was still that punchable Jiraiya. Hikaru's action immediately drew Jiraiya's attention away from his meat pie. Seeing that Tsunade did not object, along with all the recent rumors about the two of them being in love, Jiraiya cried out and began egging them on.
"Oooh~~~"
When no one took the lead, many things went undone because no one dared to act. But once someone did, it was different. Aside from Orochimaru, who watched coldly, everyone else followed Jiraiya's lead and started jeering.
Only then did Tsunade realize how easily Hikaru's action could be misunderstood. Her little face went scarlet in an instant, like a fully ripened tomato.
"Hehe, everyone seems so happy. Did something interesting happen? Care to tell your teacher about it?"
The teacher happened to walk in at that moment. Hearing the students jeering, he smiled and asked.
"Teacher!!!"
Jiraiya immediately stood up, ignoring Tsunade's nearly murderous glare as he shouted excitedly, "Uchiha Hikaru touched Tsunade's face!!!"
"Hahaha..."
Jiraiya's foolish heckling made everyone burst into laughter. Tsunade's face alternated between dark and red, clearly caught between anger and embarrassment.
Poor unlucky kid. The more you acted like this, the harder Tsunade would beat you. What was he thinking? Kids really were kids!!
If Orochimaru's maturity and gloomy coldness represented one extreme, then Jiraiya perfectly embodied the words "bratty kid." Tsunade was not quite that bad, but her fiery temper and impulsive, outspoken nature were equally outrageous.
Tsunade gritted her teeth and glared at Jiraiya, nearly spraying the meat pie in her mouth. Hikaru knew this guy had caught Tsunade's attention, and he silently prayed for him for three seconds.
"Pfft, cough cough!!!"
The teacher had thought it was something amusing, but it turned out to be this. His curiosity got the better of him, and he choked badly, coughing violently.
But it would have been better if the teacher had not coughed. The more shocked and disbelieving he looked while coughing, the louder the other students laughed.
Clap clap!!
"Alright, everyone, stop laughing. Things like this depend on the two children involved. Let's begin class."
Seeing Hikaru's unconcerned expression and Tsunade's furious face, the teacher immediately realized that Tsunade was angry. He clapped his hands, smiling as he cut off everyone's laughter and announced the start of class.
"Today's lesson will be held outdoors. Everyone, come with me."
Outdoor classes required them to go either to the school field or to the Training Ground the village had specially set aside for the school. Ordinary classes were held on the field, while more advanced lessons took place at the Training Ground.
Today, the teacher led everyone out of the Ninja Academy and toward the Training Ground. Fortunately, it was not far away. This Training Ground had been specially built for the Ninja Academy, so it was not very large and was quite close to the school.
What should I do? What should I do!!
After leaving the Ninja Academy and arriving at the Training Ground, the grinning Jiraiya could no longer smile. He found Tsunade staring at him like a tigress suppressing her rage, her gaze seeming as though she wanted to swallow him whole.
Jiraiya realized that the problem was serious. Uneasily, he glanced at Hikaru, but Hikaru was not paying attention to them at all. He had simply lain down on the grass to one side, with no intention of joining the training.
What was there to watch about a group of beginners practicing throwing Kunai? Only Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya were remotely interesting. As for everyone else, forget it.
The teacher noticed Hikaru's situation immediately, but he said nothing. He diligently guided the students, and only after explaining everything that needed explaining and doing everything that needed doing did he walk over to Hikaru.
As for the training, he would let the students explore and practice on their own first.
Like Hikaru, once the teacher left, Orochimaru went off to the side. He sat beneath a tree, took out a book, and began reading intently, with no intention of taking part in the training either.
Tsunade was even more direct. She stared at Jiraiya until he guiltily retreated to one side.
Unlucky fool. At a time like this, sticking close to the teacher was the right choice. The farther you ran toward empty places, the harder Tsunade would beat you.
