His drowsy eyes had yet to adjust to the faint morning light; two characters gleaming in the sunshine filled the boy's entire field of vision.
"God-Sealing?"
Xing Yan rubbed his eyes and looked around, finally confirming that he was not dreaming.
"Is that the sword's name?"
God-Sealing... what a grand claim!
After turning those two characters over in his mind several times and recalling the strange dream he had just had, Xing Yan could not help wondering:
Is this sword spirit teasing me again?
Perhaps God-Sealing is only the name of the person who forged it back then? Hmm, that elder's surname was 'Seal,' and his given name was 'God.'
As his thoughts wandered this far, an idea stirred in his heart:
Now the sword has a name, but does its spirit have one? If not, I won't stand on ceremony. Since I have nothing to do, I might as well make one up for her!
Before he could reach out to the sword spirit, he noticed the two large seal-script characters on the blade gradually twisting out of shape. After rubbing his eyes two or three times and looking again, he found that "God-Sealing" had changed into two different characters.
Their strokes were crooked and contorted, yet formed a coherent style, naturally ancient and unadorned. They were exceedingly hard to recognize. Only after studying them over and over for a long while did he make them out:
"Yao Guang"
Yao Guang-could that be the sword spirit's name?
Yao Guang, Yao Guang... that sounds rather familiar, but I can't remember what it means.
Ha! A sword that can write-how interesting!
At this thought, Xing Yan suddenly remembered something and silently prayed to the Ancient Sword, God-Sealing, before him:
*Divine sword, how about changing the inscription on your blade to 'Xing
