Author's note: Today was my regular research presentation, so I cannot post a normal update. Lately, while leafing through old writings in my spare time, I suddenly came across this history of the orchestra. Come to think of it, before writing Dust Along the Immortal Road, my only substantial piece of writing was probably this history of the university's Chinese orchestra. One month and three days after finishing it, I formally began trying to write the novel Dust Along the Immortal Road. Although I have never met any of you who come here to read my humble work, after all this time, we can probably count as friends. So I am posting this account of an experience from your writer's past for you to read. Even if the style is immature, the tone brash, and the events perhaps hardly worth mentioning, you are welcome to browse through it if you are interested.
One point needs special clarification: posting this in the supplementary volume will not interfere in the slightest with updates according to my actual circumstances. Just like the poems previously posted in these supplementary volumes, if you do not like it, please ignore it completely-this will not affect the book's usual updating pattern. Thank you for understanding! :)
A History of the USTC Student Chinese Orchestra
The 2001-2004 Volume
This account is respectfully dedicated to everyone who ever worked for the cause of the university's Chinese orchestra.
Preface
Almost two years had slipped by since the University of Science and Technology of China's student Chinese orchestra was formally established. As its first director, and one of its principal founders and participants, I felt I had a responsibility to leave something in writing, so that those who came afterward could understand the storms the orchestra had weathered over the years.
