Within the Sky Screen!
Only after a long while did the three little creatures, weak-kneed and trembling with fright, slowly recover from their overwhelming terror. Their tiny bodies no longer shook violently, but the fear in their eyes refused to fade.
The soft, adorable little slug curled up on a blade of grass, her gentle voice still tinged with fear.
"So scary... That woman Kaguya is truly terrifying..."
"Everyone disappeared... They were all killed..."
Having witnessed the slaughter of those powerful creatures, the little slug felt nothing but endless terror. Her tiny understanding of the world had been completely overturned.
Beside her, the little toad tried to straighten his tiny body and offer some comfort, pretending to be calm. A lingering tremor remained in his voice, but he did his best to reassure his companion.
"Katsuyu, don't be afraid. She's already gone. She won't come back to kill us."
The little slug was named Katsuyu!
But before Katsuyu could relax, the slender little snake beside them, snow-white from head to tail, doused that reassurance with cold water. Its voice was icy, clearheaded, and cruel.
"Gamamaru, stop fooling yourself."
"She didn't spare us today out of mercy. We were simply too weak-so weak we weren't worth mentioning. We weren't even fit to serve as nutrients."
"If we grow even a little stronger and she notices we have power, we'll end up exactly like those giant beasts. She'll kill us without hesitation and feed us to that God Tree."
Every word was realistic, every sentence cruel. They instantly shattered that brief sense of safety, making the atmosphere among the grasses heavy once more.
