Su Yue drove the pickup, anxiety gnawing at her the whole time. She still hadn't managed to find any gasoline. The truck was bound to stop tonight.

[Ding! Congratulations on surviving another day, host. You have received 100 Survival Points.] [Survival Points: 1740]

At around one in the morning, the convoy encountered a group of survivors: six men and fourteen women.

Su Nian was surprised that there were still people who had only just crossed over... He hadn't thought his hiding place back then was all that remote, yet some people had managed to hide even better than he had.

Su Nian opened his Blood Eye and took a look. These people were very "clean," with no curses or anything of the sort attached to them.

"Stay close to the convoy. Don't leave the road or approach the gray fog. Don't speak loudly, and don't try to pick anything up from the roadside..."

Zhang Ping gave the twenty survivors their instructions.

"Hey, could you find me a seat in one of the vehicles? I can't walk anymore," a young woman asked in a syrupy voice.

Once she spoke up, the others chimed in, all wanting a ride.

"No. Either keep up with the convoy or get lost!" Zhang Ping didn't mince words.

He had seen plenty of survivors. People demanding rights and guarantees were everywhere. Some people simply couldn't grasp their position. This was the apocalypse.

The fit survived. The unfit died.

As if something had occurred to him, Zhang Ping changed his expression and forced out a faint smile.

"Got any gold?"

"Can we get a ride if we have gold? I have a gold bracelet." A young woman stepped forward.

"No, but you can trade gold for some food."

Beside the supply truck.

"You tried to fool me with gold-plated silver!" Zhang Ping snatched the supplies back out of Zhao Lin's hands.

"I didn't know!" Zhao Lin turned toward a man. "Li Cheng, you bastard! You actually lied to me!"

That gold bracelet had bought him seven days in bed with her. They hadn't left the hotel once, and she had moaned herself hoarse. Now it turned out to be fake. She had worked hard for that money!

"Keep your voices down." Once the supplies had been exchanged, Zhang Ping grabbed the locking bar on the cargo door. "Let's go."

The moment Zhang Ping finished speaking, the truck roared and sped off to catch up.

"We should figure out what's going on first," said a quiet-looking man wearing glasses.

"Cut it out!" Li Cheng backhanded Zhao Lin across the face, his expression full of disgust. This woman couldn't read the situation at all.

Half of Zhao Lin's face swelled up instantly. "You actually hit me!"

"Want one on the other side too?" Li Cheng asked coldly, then turned to the man with glasses.

"Sun Hao, you're good at sweet-talking people. Go ask around."

Sun Hao nodded and caught up with the survivors walking at the rear in a few quick strides.

"Ma'am, I'd like to..."

Before he could finish, the woman launched into a torrent of abuse. "Who are you calling ma'am? I'm only thirty-two! You mother[bleep][bleep]!"

Sun Hao's face flushed red. He hadn't expected the woman to have such a filthy mouth.

He approached two more people and eventually reached one conclusion: the people here were extremely cold and difficult to talk to.

In the end, he paid two cigarettes to learn a little, though not much. He might as well not have asked.

Don't fall behind. Stay close to the convoy. Don't approach the gray fog. Don't try to pick anything up from the roadside. Don't try to talk back to the awakened.

Su Yue's pickup finally ran out of gas and slowly rolled to a stop.

Nearby, the man with tattoo sleeves licked his dry lips at the sight, his eyes fixed on her like a wolf eyeing a lamb.

Now you can't get away.

Su Yue sat in silence with both hands on the steering wheel. After steadying herself, she shouldered the bag she had packed in advance and got out.

"Su Yue, hop on!" The skinny Li Wu waved to her.

"Come on. Your husband saved my life. Consider it repayment. You're always helping me watch my vehicle too, aren't you?"

After a moment's thought, Su Yue climbed onto the Three-Wheeler.

"Thank you, Uncle Li."

"Don't mention it!" Li Wu waved it off.

The tattooed man stopped his vehicle and called out mockingly as Li Wu's Three-Wheeler passed.

"Yueyue, if you ride me, you have to let me ride you too!"

Su Yue's expression darkened. For an old-fashioned, conservative woman like her, hearing something like that felt like having a thorn driven into her heart.

She shook her head, feeling a little dizzy... The top of her head felt cold.

"Cao Chong, you piece of shit! Heaven must be blind to have let you live this long. I curse you to end up as food for the anomalies next time!" Li Wu flew into a rage.

"Don't worry. If an old dog like you is still alive, I'm sure as hell not going to die." Cao Chong rested his tattooed arm on the window ledge.

He didn't care in the slightest about Li Wu's words. People like him were exactly the ones who lived the longest.

As long as he got what he wanted, the methods didn't matter.

"I'll let you play with Su Yue first. She'll still be mine in the end. Unless she's awakened, no woman I set my sights on gets away. Hahaha!"

An arrogant grin spread across Cao Chong's face as he pressed the accelerator, and his SUV slowly pulled away from Li Wu's Three-Wheeler.

He meant every word. Apart from the awakened, there were very few people in this convoy he didn't dare provoke. Zhang Ping was one, since he was the captain's "loyal dog." He couldn't afford to mess with the siblings Tang Zhou and Tang Chen either.

Both were trained fighters. Once, wanting to see what Tang Zhou looked like, he had taken a wet wipe and tried to clean her face. She had nearly kicked his dick out of commission. When her brother came out of the city, he drew his blade and came straight at him.

If the convoy hadn't had rules, he would have been a dead man.

As for Li Wu... He thought nothing of that old bastard.

Li Wu was furious. At his age, he still had to put up with filthy rumors. He genuinely had no such intentions, and he was worried Su Yue would get the wrong idea.

He could already feel Su Yue deliberately putting distance between them.

"Su Yue, don't take that bastard Cao Chong's words to heart."

"Uncle Li! I've awakened!" Su Yue's eyes lit up, her voice brimming with delighted surprise.

"What did you say?"

Li Wu hit the brakes and turned to Su Yue, searching her eyes for confirmation.

"It's true!" Su Yue nodded again.

"Good, good, good! Now Fang Cheng's spirit can finally rest in peace." Li Wu was so excited that his face flushed.

Early the next morning.

The convoy slowly came to a stop.

"Go find Captain Su and the others," Li Wu urged.

Su Yue nodded, got off, and walked slowly toward the lead vehicle. At last, she had the power to survive and raise her child. Fang Cheng's bloodline wouldn't end.

Li Wu followed behind her, then stopped in front of Cao Chong's vehicle.

"What is it, old man? Want a fight?" Cao Chong opened the door, his face full of arrogance.

"No, no. How could I possibly beat you?" Li Wu smiled.

Suspicion crossed Cao Chong's face. Has the old bastard lost his mind?

"Tell me, have you awakened yet?" Li Wu asked out of the blue.

"If I awaken, you'll be the first one I kill." Bloodlust showed on Cao Chong's face.

"Good. That's a relief."

Cao Chong: "???"

"She's awakened. Think she'll kill you?" Li Wu pointed at Su Yue, who was standing with Su Nian.

With that, he turned and left.

That felt good! So fucking good!

Cao Chong's face slowly drained of color... His pupils quivered violently, and his hands and feet began to shake.
