Up ahead, the web woven by the Green-Haired Wraith stretched across the road like a giant spiderweb, anchored to the fog on both sides, with numerous bloody corpses threaded through it.

No one dared charge forward again.

The Green-Haired Wraith cradled a female corpse and leisurely gnawed on it, blood staining much of its green hair red.

The head... the neck, then the chest... seemingly put off, the Green-Haired Wraith growled and jerked its head, sending a springy lump of silicone falling to the ground.

It reached in, scooped out the other lump, and tossed it onto the ground.

Su Nian withdrew his gaze from the end of the road and turned back to the Raptor.

"What the fuck are you doing? Don't you want your own cars anymore?"

The truck was packed. Hao Ren sat in the passenger seat, and the other three sat in the back.

Big Black Bull stood beside the truck.

"It's not safe for you to be alone. I was worried," Hao Ren said with a sheepish smile.

"As captain, it's my duty to protect my teammates. If you all die, I'll be a commander without an army," Wen Kele said solemnly.

"I'm afraid of dying." Su Yue honestly raised her hand.

Gong Qing merely gave a dry cough. "Are we trying the old method again? We can't drive through like this. Should we see if it'll leave us an opening?"

Su Nian glanced over before looking away. This thing was pure brute stats.

Su Nian took out the White Bone Token.

"I'll strike first. When I do, Gong Qing, lock it down..." Then Su Nian looked at Big Black Bull. "You ram it and knock it back into the Gray Fog."

"Got it?"

"Moo!!"

Su Nian started the truck and looked at Hao Ren. "You'll drive."

"Ahem, don't you need your captain to make a move?" Wen Kele raised an eyebrow.

He actually left me out. Damn it, Su Nian's trying to sideline me. How dare he!

"Just sitting quietly in the truck counts as making a move." With that, Gong Qing got out and shut the door.

Su Yue clenched both hands tightly. If she hadn't awakened yesterday, she would have been doomed today.

There was no way she could outrun the others... a deep, lingering fear swept through her heart.

Su Nian, Gong Qing, and Big Black Bull walked ahead, while Hao Ren drove slowly behind them.

Seeing the Awakened move, many of the people nearby braced themselves and got ready.

Engines rumbled impatiently.

The moment an opportunity appeared, they would launch themselves out of this hellhole.

Su Nian activated the White Bone Token. A skeletal giant crashed down from above the Green-Haired Wraith, bringing a powerful, heavy punch down on its head.

Countless green hairs pierced its bony body, but the skeletal giant felt no pain. At the same time, however, it couldn't move.

The skeletal giant's hand gripped the green hair tightly.

"Bull! Gong Qing!"

Su Nian activated Blood Eye, locking the wraith down for an instant, and thrust out the Sin-Cleaving Butcher's Knife. Its blade instantly extended, swelling with the shriek of metal tearing through the air... a hundred-meter-long golden blade of light pierced the Green-Haired Wraith's head.

Big Black Bull broke into a run, making the ground tremble.

Gong Qing stretched out his right hand, curling his fingers into a claw and grasping at the air. A Ward Door opened, drawing out the wraith's consciousness.

Bang!

The Ward Door slammed shut... since Su Nian's Wraith Artifact had struck first, extracting the wraith's consciousness with his ability didn't cost him much mental energy.

Just like their last encounter with the Shadow-Seam Wraith, their team had no warrior or tank to absorb damage, but they could still use surprise attacks and hard crowd control.

"Moo!!" White vapor streamed from Big Black Bull's nostrils as he drove a horn forward with tremendous force.

Honestly, this was his first time ramming a wraith-or a person-who stood completely still.

Bang!

The Green-Haired Wraith and the skeletal giant shot into the Gray Fog like cannonballs, sending the fog billowing to either side.

Engines roared as vehicles launched forward.

Two motorcycles led the charge.

Gong Qing and Su Nian hurried into the truck. The Raptor's engine roared as it charged after them, with Big Black Bull running behind. Gradually, Big Black Bull fell behind.

After driving some distance, Hao Ren slowed down to wait for Big Black Bull.

Su Nian fiddled with the White Bone Token. He couldn't stretch his legs out, and it was uncomfortable.

"What's this big bag?"

Su Nian opened it.

"Gold," Hao Ren said.

The bag was filled with all kinds of gold jewelry, some cut apart, others bent.

Su Nian hefted it. It weighed at least twenty or thirty kilograms.

"There's so much!"

"This is nothing. We used to have a gold coffin weighing several hundred jin. You never saw it. We've already used it to imprison a Class B Wraith Infant." Hao Ren smiled.

"If we hadn't had that gold coffin, you'd probably be joining some other convoy right now."

"That wraith might still be trapped in there," Gong Qing said, closing the window. The airflow wasn't doing his hair any favors.

"With a coffin that thick, definitely." Hao Ren pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

He deftly took one out and lit it, blowing all the smoke out the window. After all, the truck wasn't his, and he was the only smoker among so many people. He needed to respect their boundaries.

"Have you noticed how especially unlucky we've been lately? It's either packs of Class B wraiths or a Class A."

"We're all striving to stay alive, winning and losing amid love, hate, success, and failure..." Gong Qing hummed.

"You're singing again!" Wen Kele glared at him with her dark eyes.

"I'm setting the mood for him. Otherwise, it won't be melancholy enough." Gong Qing acted as though he hadn't particularly wanted to sing.

"I think it sounds pretty good... we've shone and felt lost, chosen without regret, believing the hardships we've endured are gains, through all the twists and turns on the road to growing up..." Su Yue hummed along for a few lines, reaching out the window to feel the night breeze.

Suddenly, she didn't feel so tense. Fang Cheng had often sung this song when he was alive, mainly because it was the only one he knew.

"We made it out, at least. And we've learned a little more about the strength of the Class A Wraith, the Grave-Crying Specter." Hao Ren narrowed his eyes slightly.

Without Su Nian, no one in the convoy except the Awakened would have survived.

A Class A Wraith was that terrifying. Had that been its full strength... or only part of it?

Su Nian pressed his lips together, unwilling to spoil their mood. The system hadn't made an announcement yet, which meant they still hadn't escaped the Grave-Crying Specter's range.

The greatest difference between Class A and Class B wraiths wasn't how powerful or bizarre their killing rules were, but that Class A wraiths possessed a wraith domain.

There was no way to determine how large a wraith domain was, either. Gong Qing's notebook contained relatively little information.

After all, everyone who had seen a Class A Wraith had already died.

But with the Wraith Travel Token, there probably wouldn't be much trouble. He might as well let them enjoy themselves for a while.

Before long, Big Black Bull caught up, panting heavily. Hao Ren didn't speed up again, keeping his pace slow, and the vehicles behind them also slowed to follow the Raptor.

Bored, Wen Kele took out her handheld console and started playing Contra. Su Yue, also a little bored, leaned over to watch.

After watching for a while, she realized Wen Kele was absolutely terrible, worse than an elementary school kid. She had failed to clear the third stage several times.

Watching made her anxious... but she soon stopped feeling anxious, because the battery died.

"Fuck!" Wen Kele slapped her thigh. "I was so busy grabbing the console and the Wangzai that I forgot the charger."

"Good. Take a break from your gaming addiction," Hao Ren said flatly. "Oh, I forgot to tell you. The supply truck didn't make it out. Ration those cans you've got. We'll probably be eating tree bark later."

"Ah! Why didn't you report that sooner?" Wen Kele panicked.

She hadn't gone without Wangzai since the day she was born.

Wen Kele began praying silently that Chen Shu wouldn't die. As the "incarnation of evil," this was her first time doing such a thing. Normally, it was already generous of her not to curse someone.

Hao Ren rolled his eyes. Report, my ass.

He opened the map to check their route and see whether any Supply Points were nearby.

Straight ahead lay an endless stretch of mountains, his originally planned destination. There were no known Supply Points for a long distance along that route.

There was another fork up ahead.

A menacing red dot flashed in his pupils.

This road would pass through... Green Mountain Town!
