The applause was thunderous.
Everyone clapped as hard as they could.
It was like they had just finished listening to a leader's speech and a teacher or supervisor had told them to make sure the leader felt their enthusiasm.
But,
the difference was,
everyone was applauding from the heart.
"Nice, really nice! That's a great song!" exclaimed the folk singer who had encouraged Yan Xiao to go onstage.
"Listening to it made me feel good all over, and it really put my mind at ease."
"I felt pretty much the same. It made me wonder what all my daily hustling was actually for," said a businessman.
"It's definitely a good song," Zhang Meimei declared, settling the matter. She turned to Yan Xiao. "What's it called?"
Yan Xiao smiled and replied, "It's called 'An Ordinary Day.'"
"Sounds great."
"Thank you."
"It's just that your playing was terrible."
"..."
"Hey, young man, would you sell that song?" the folk singer suddenly asked.
Sell it?
Yan Xiao froze for a moment.
He had not expected the folk singer to act so decisively.
"Don't sell it to him. Sell it to me. I'll pay more," said someone from a record company.
Yan Xiao turned to look at him, and the man continued, "Young man, are you interested in making your debut? If you are, you could sign with our record company."
Yan Xiao immediately turned down the offer. "I'm not planning to make my debut for now. I'm still in school, so my studies come first."
After saying that, Yan Xiao could not help chuckling inwardly. An excuse like "I'm still in school, so my studies come first" really did work for just about anything.
But the man clearly had no intention of giving up. "Aren't you going to school to make money anyway?
