A stifling atmosphere filled the study. Carls's expression kept shifting, and at that moment, it was as though two little figures had appeared in his mind.
One told him to agree, while the other insisted that he must not.
As time passed, the little figure clamoring for him to agree gradually gained the upper hand. Finally, Carls gave a helpless smile.
"All right, you've convinced me."
"You're a devil."
"No, I'm just helping you make a choice."
Killian spoke with a smile.
The two discussed a few more details before Killian finally took his leave.
Watching Killian depart, Carls walked expressionlessly into a room on the second floor. An adorable girl lay on the bed, like Sleeping Beauty.
Sadly, however, she was missing a leg. It was like a crack in an exquisite porcelain doll, a heartbreaking flaw.
Carls silently gazed at his daughter. Only after a long while did he leave the room.
Meanwhile, after leaving the official residence, Killian got into his car and immediately made a call. "Mandarin, the plan went smoothly. We can start the operation now."
"But I need a small favor. Help me kidnap someone."
"Who?"
The Mandarin's voice was as hoarse as ever, as though his throat had been scorched by fire.
"Virginia Potts."
"All right."
Without wasting any words, The Mandarin agreed and hung up.
Listening to the busy tone, Killian tossed his phone aside. He looked at himself in the rearview mirror, a smile spreading across his face. "Tony, you never saw this coming, did you? We'll be seeing each other very soon."
With that, Killian started the car and quickly drove away.
While Killian was putting everything into motion, Tony remained completely unaware of the approaching danger.
