In the S.H.I.E.L.D. surveillance room, Nick and the others had gone straight back to work after returning, reviewing surveillance footage from across the city in search of clues.
But since they had found no relevant leads inside Pioneer Technology, they had no direction for their search. For the most part, they were aimlessly looking for a needle in a haystack.
Before long, not only were the S.H.I.E.L.D. staff exhausted, but even Nick and the others were gradually losing interest.
As far as they were concerned, continuing the search like this was simply a waste of time. There was no chance of making any progress.
Their only option was to keep their sights on Maya and find a way to get some clues out of her.
Just as Nick was considering how to make Maya cooperate, a sudden cry rang out in the surveillance room.
A S.H.I.E.L.D. staff member sprang from their seat and pointed at one of the feeds in shock, shouting, "D-Director! Look! Isn't that Mr. Orleans?"
At those words, Nick shot to his feet and hurried over. When he saw the figure on the surveillance feed for himself, he let out a startled cry.
"How is that possible?!"
They had poured so much manpower and resources into searching the entire city for Orleans, yet had found nothing.
Now Orleans had appeared of his own accord. The whole thing was bizarre, no matter how they looked at it.
Still, he knew this was no time to dwell on that.
Coming to his senses, Nick immediately shouted an order. "Pinpoint that location and send people to pick up Mr. Orleans immediately! Move, move, move!"
"Yes, sir!"
Everyone answered and quickly sprang into action.
Nick himself headed to the scene with a large contingent of fully armed S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
