In a vast primeval forest, a ripple of power spread from its depths. The crowns of countless trees bowed toward the heart of the forest, paying homage to a mighty being.
Soon, a bare-chested man wearing a wreath of grass emerged from the depths of the forest, step by step. Wherever he passed, flowers, grasses, and trees bowed before him.
He was Vidar, the god of forests!
In an abyss in northern Asgard, a man clad in armor and wielding a divine spear stepped out of the depths, walking through the air.
Terrifying waves of divine power radiated from him. As he appeared, the land below plunged straight into darkness.
He was Hoder, the god of darkness!
Hoder strode through the air toward Asgard. Suddenly, he stopped and turned to look east.
A dazzling white light flooded his vision, drawing a cold snort from him.
To the east, in the City of Light, Balder awakened from his slumber. Dressed in white robes, he likewise looked north, a warm smile touching his lips.
"Hoder, it's been a long time."
His voice was soft, yet the moment he spoke, his words reached Hoder's ears.
"I have no desire to see you and that irritating light of yours."
Hoder delivered his curt reply, then ignored Balder and continued toward Asgard.
Still in the City of Light, Balder took no offense at his words. As twin brothers, they had found each other disagreeable for years.
