As Pietro finished speaking, Nick's expression shifted slightly. Pietro continued, "Tony has something we want, and my sister and I have a score to settle with him. So you don't need to doubt our resolve to stand against him."
"Likewise, I believe you've wanted to get rid of him for a long time, Director Nick. After all, how could you tolerate a menace wandering around right under your nose?"
"So give us a straight answer, Director Nick. Are we working together or not?"
"If you still refuse, we'll take our leave."
Pietro delivered all of this in one breath, leaving Nick silent.
In all honesty, did he want to get rid of Tony? Without a doubt.
But he also knew how powerful Tony was. More importantly, he knew that Tony had destroyed an entire world not long ago.
So even though Pietro seemed sincere, Nick still couldn't make up his mind. After all, if the operation failed, the consequences would be far beyond anything he could bear.
Yet he couldn't bring himself to simply give up, either. Hydra's forces were hardly weak. Joining forces with them would undoubtedly offer far better odds than S.H.I.E.L.D. fighting alone.
"Since you've investigated Tony, you must know how powerful he is. So I'd like to know what gives you such confidence."
Nick probed, hoping to obtain more information.
But Pietro was no fool, and he certainly wouldn't tell him everything. A faint smile appeared on his face. "Director Nick, since we dare to plot against him, we naturally have some confidence. The question is whether you dare to join us."
