In Manhattan, at a certain café, Nick sat in a corner by the window, waiting quietly. Soon, a figure wearing a hoodie, with a face hidden beneath it, walked into the café.
Seeing him, the corner of Nick's mouth curved into a smile, and he raised a hand.
"Over here."
At those words, Flint cast his gaze over. After seeing Nick, he hesitated for a moment but still walked over, sitting down across from Nick.
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Nick Fury."
"I'm glad you could return my call."
Nick wore a smile as he spoke, appearing extremely enthusiastic.
Flint looked at him, pressed his lips together, and slowly said, "You must work for the government, right? Why do you want to see me?"
This was the question he had been trying to figure out. After all, the two of them had zero intersection-one was the law and the other was a criminal-yet Nick had said on the phone that he wanted to help him.
"It's very simple. Your abilities give you value."
"I've read your file. Although you have a checkered past, how should I put it? You're still somewhat of a good person among bad ones."
"I can't bear to watch a talent like you walk down the wrong path, so I hope you'll join us and work for the government."
"As long as you agree, I can help you erase your past record, allow you to hold your head high again, and live in the sunlight."
"Of course, the money you robbed must be returned."
"No way!"
Flint's emotions instantly became agitated.
Nick, who had long since investigated all of his background information, naturally did not panic at the sight, his face still maintaining a smile.
"I know you need this money to save your daughter."
"But rest assured, as long as you join us, your daughter's illness will no longer be a problem."
"I'll help her contact a suitable bone marrow match, and arrange the best hospital and doctors to perform the surgery. What do you think?"
Hearing this, Flint's emotions calmed down instantly.
He had robbed the bank in the first place just to cure his daughter's illness. If Nick could accomplish these things he promised, returning that money wouldn't be a big deal either.
However, he wasn't an idiot, and stated directly, "I can agree, but you have to finish the surgery for my daughter first."
"OK, no problem."
Nick smiled and nodded. The two of them conversed very smoothly, and he managed to recruit Flint without expending much effort.
In fact, it wasn't surprising; once Flint had made that phone call, the success rate of the recruitment had already reached ninety-nine percent.
As long as someone could help him solve his trouble, what reason did he have not to agree?
Nick successfully recruited a superhuman, while Tony was currently attending a science conference.
The initiator was named Otto Gunther Octavius. Of course, he also had another alias: Doctor Octopus!
Come to think of it, Doctor Octopus's research project was invested in by the Osborn Group. Stark Industries was now a major shareholder of the Osborn Group, so Tony naturally had to review the Osborn Group's research projects.
Therefore, he had inadvertently seen the research regarding the mechanical arms, which was why Tony had attended this conference.
Looking at Octavius, who was eight parts similar to the one in the movie, Tony listened to his speech with a deadpan expression on the outside while actually pondering in his heart how to bring him into the fold.
After all, Doctor Octopus's strength was still pretty good. Using Peter for comparison, a single Doctor Octopus could beat three Spider-Men.
In the movie, if not for Doctor Octopus recovering his conscience at the end, Spider-Man would have been beaten to death by him.
Still, he was in no rush. Doctor Octopus currently belonged to the Osborn Group's scientist, and as a major shareholder of the Osborn Group, Doctor Octopus belonged to the scientists under his command.
This was a duck already in the pot; there was no way he would let it fly away, was there?
However, in light of the matter with Dr. Reed, Tony decided to wait and see until he successfully transformed into Doctor Octopus; otherwise, the system wouldn't acknowledge it, and recruiting him early would be for nothing.
Having made up his mind, the mechanical arm exhibition segment soon arrived.
A woman stepped onto the presentation stage.
Looking at this woman, Tony narrowed his eyes. He didn't remember how much of his memories of Marvel remained, but he vaguely remembered that Doctor Octopus seemed to have begun his metamorphosis precisely because of a failed press conference.
So was something going to happen to this woman?
He harbored a vague premonition in his heart, but he didn't have the slightest intention of issuing a warning.
What he needed was the supervillain Doctor Octopus, not the scientist Octavius.
Soon, four metallic mechanical arms appeared before everyone's eyes, drawing a wave of gasps.
Looking at everyone's expressions, Doctor Octopus was clearly extremely happy.
He believed that by tomorrow, his invention would become world-famous, and by then he would achieve great success and renown.
Thinking to himself, Doctor Octopus continued to showcase his research results.
The four mechanical arms connected to the woman's back, and the woman easily manipulated the mechanical arms to move continuously, provoking another wave of gasps from the crowd.
But right at that moment, an accident occurred.
The woman's complexion instantly turned ugly, her originally rosy cheeks quickly turning pale. A miserable scream issued from her mouth, and immediately, her pupils dilated and her body went completely limp.
The sudden scene stunned the crowd, and Doctor Octopus's expression shifted instantly in a flash.
"Sally, are you alright!"
Doctor Octopus removed the mechanical arms, holding Sally's corpse and shaking it continuously. Soon he had to accept a sorrowful fact: she was dead!
Meanwhile, the people present looked at this scene and instantly exploded into an uproar, with countless reporters rapidly scribbling in their notebooks.
A death at the press conference scene, Octavius produced a murder product!
Soon, the scene fell into chaos, and countless reporters swarmed forward, wanting to interview the grief-stricken Doctor Octopus.
Standing at the very back of the crowd, Tony watched this chaotic scene and speechlessly shook his head. Truly, this was an era of entertainment to the death; people died and not a single person even thought to call the police.
Silently dialing the police hotline, Tony left the chaotic press conference.
He didn't meddle in Doctor Octopus's misfortune. Although there was a high possibility at this moment to directly capture him and build up goodwill,
still, as the saying went, he wanted that supervillain Doctor Octopus.
And now was clearly the beginning of his transformation, so Tony naturally wouldn't interfere.
Returning to his car, JARVIS's voice sounded instantly.
"Sir, the person you asked me to look into has been found."
"Oh, where is he!"
Tony instantly grew interested.
He had been busy with Stark Industries matters during this period, but that didn't mean he didn't care at all about what was happening in New York.
He had likewise seen the news about Flint, and had immediately had JARVIS begin searching.
Yet currently, when it came to finding people, no one could compare to official agencies.
It was only now that JARVIS finally had news.
"Sir, I searched the surveillance footage across New York and found the person you mentioned. Just a moment ago, he met with Nick and joined S.H.I.E.L.D."
