"Director, Natasha's investigation was right. Besides leading the public in protests, some Death Warriors have been urging people to storm the military laboratories outright. The three military laboratories closest to New York are now surrounded. A clash could break out at any moment."
Coulson sheltered behind a massive wall and spoke to his director in a low, urgent voice.
An incredibly loud, chaotic roar of protest rose behind him.
"Phew." Coulson took off his sunglasses and tucked the camera mounted on them into his pocket. Then he pulled out his radio, adjusted it, and spoke over the shared channel. "All personnel, get into position. Apprehend the marked targets quickly. Don't give them time to commit suicide. I repeat, apprehend them quickly!"
"Copy."
Coulson stepped out from behind the wall and turned to his junior partner, Victor. "Be careful."
"Yes, sir." Victor went off to apprehend the criminals.
Coulson sighed inwardly. Someone, or some organization, was clearly disrupting S.H.I.E.L.D.'s operational strategy.
But S.H.I.E.L.D. could no longer wait and watch events unfold as it once had.
Coulson suspected that if they simply waited for events to develop, S.H.I.E.L.D. would be left waiting forever.
They could forget about ever exercising any authority again.
As Coulson oversaw the operation, all the field agents moved into action.
Victor instructed his nearby teammates to proceed cautiously while taking out a specially designed S.H.I.E.L.D. stun device.
"Move!"
The stun device flew from his hand and struck the man inciting the protesters.
Then the agents swiftly converged on the fallen man.
With practiced movements, they pried his mouth open, removed the poison, and dislocated his jaw.
That would keep these Death Warriors from attempting suicide again.
