Yan Shuangying and the doctor followed Coulson.
"Hi!" Coulson waved at the man lying in bed. "Can you hear me?"
The man nodded with difficulty.
"Who are you?" Coulson started with a few simple questions to check whether he was lucid.
"Zhan Li. Zhan Li Moore."
Coulson checked the file. Yes, that matched the records.
"What do you do for a living?"
"I'm a police officer with the Hell's Kitchen precinct in New York."
"..."
Coulson closed the paper file, satisfied that Zhan Li had fully regained his senses.
"Oh, right." Zhan Li clutched his head, terror spreading across his face. "Save me! Please, save me! Someone's going to bite me to death!"
Bite him to death?
Coulson instinctively focused on the "biter."
After all, the tooth marks on this survivor matched those on the previous victims.
But how had he survived?
Was there still time to react after an attack?
"Calm down, sir." Coulson soothed Zhan Li. "Tell us what happened. You look like you've been through quite an ordeal."
"I-I went home like usual. I was exhausted, so I was getting ready for bed. Then I suddenly felt something on my shoulder. I knew the precinct had been investigating some murders lately, and those people had died from wounds on their shoulders, so I hurried outside on all fours to call for help. I never thought you'd actually save me," Zhan Li explained haltingly.
Coulson listened with a frown. "Get some rest for now. We'll get to the bottom of this."
Hearing that, Zhan Li lay back down.
As they walked down the corridor leading out of the medical station, Coulson spoke.
"Mr. Yan, what do you make of what Zhan Li just told us?" Coulson asked Yan Shuangying with a smile.
"Full of holes." Yan Shuangying put
