The United States Navy was indeed powerful. It had seven fleets, roughly two hundred warships, and an estimated total of nearly four hundred thousand active-duty personnel and reservists.
With something this serious happening along part of the West Coast, and so much time already having passed, the United States Navy naturally could not turn a blind eye.
The Coast Guard immediately deployed three warships and dozens of small boats to the area where the yellow solid matter had gathered.
The Coast Guard's arrival was neither particularly quick nor particularly slow.
But they had no experience dealing with this sort of problem.
The Coast Guard personnel did, in fact, have combat experience.
However, nothing unusual had ever happened along the West Coast.
They were somewhat at a loss as to how to handle the situation on their own coastline.
Surely they could not simply bombard it when it had shown no signs of dangerous activity?
"Hey, try to contact the fleet here on the West Coast immediately. Tell them to withdraw and not act rashly."
Seeing the fleet arrive, Nick Fury hurriedly contacted headquarters and asked them to coordinate jurisdiction over the incident.
"Yes, sir!"
Colonel John, the commander aboard the fleet, had no idea what Nick Fury was thinking. All he knew was that an unidentified substance had appeared across a large stretch of coastline, and he might have to shoulder some responsibility. After all, patrolling those waters was part of his job.
"Have you figured it out, soldier? When did that yellow stuff appear?"
His subordinate replied, "Sir, according to our investigation, the unidentified substance appeared this morning and gradually increased. By now, it's spread over more than a dozen miles."
Colonel John narrowed his eyes. "You reported it to headquarters. What did they say?"
"They haven't replied yet."
