Dragon City's streets were no longer as bustling or brightly lit as before. Having just suffered a terrorist attack, the city was steeped in a heavy, oppressive atmosphere.
Most of the crowds that usually thronged the main streets had dispersed. A handful of people hurried along, unease written across their faces. Some shops had shut their doors and boarded up their windows crookedly. The neon signs along the roads no longer shone as bright as day, replaced by dead, silent darkness.
Cleanup was still underway. Several street sweepers came and went, while workers gathered around roadside flower beds scarred by the explosions to deal with the aftermath. In the distance, police tape fluttered at a roadblock, a constant reminder that the shadow of terror still lingered.
Occasionally, a few executive sedans drove past, their elite passengers wearing grim expressions. Civilian mecha patrolled the streets, the sound of their machinery especially grating as they moved slowly along.
Everything seemed to proclaim that this city had suffered an unprecedented blow and was struggling to find the first light of rebirth amid its suffering. The streets of Dragon City exuded a mingled air of fear and sorrow. This place had been deeply wounded and desperately needed time to heal.
