Even the layout and style were exactly the same as Nabistin's Imperial Palace. Ash felt as if he had returned to his loyal Gospel Country.
This should have been the place Ash found least surprising. The Witch was different from everyone else. Vishy and Vesir were both the type with grand ambitions and deep desires. As for Sword Maiden, the nicer way to put it was "down-to-earth," while the harsher way was "never satisfied"—before becoming an arcanist, she only wanted to become a Water Arcanist and a noble; after condensing One-Winged, she wanted to show off; after condensing Two-Winged, she wanted to challenge the Meteor Tribulation; after condensing Three-Winged, she wanted to keep Ash as her boy toy; after condensing Four-Winged, she became even more impressive, not even putting Star Country in her eyes. Her ambition grew in step with her strength.
But the Witch was different. The Witch only wanted to hold on to what she already had. She had never harbored unrealistic dreams.
She had left the High Tower only to save her younger sister Nina; she had left Gospel only to protect Ash. Perhaps because she had possessed far, far too little in all those years past, she now refused to lose anything. She was like a child who had finally gotten a balloon, clutching the string even in sleep. If even the balloon flew away, then she would have nothing again.
"Dad, how do I do this problem?"
Ash turned his head and saw Liss lying over the desk studying, blinking her big eyes as she asked him a question.
Ash fell silent for a moment, then rubbed her little head. "Did you forget the last time I helped you with homework, and the grading system said the respondent was mentally deficient and
