Watching little Vesir beam with joy while snot and tears smeared her face, Ash nodded gently and wiped her small face with his sleeve.

Ash understood very well why Wei-Ou-Nai would say that.

Birth, aging, sickness, and death were unbearable pains in life, whether for oneself or for the people around them.

Ash had actually reached the age where he had to face partings with blood relatives. His mother's health had never been very good, and she was so thin it made him wonder how she had managed to raise him and his mischievous brother. When he was in university, his father had been hospitalized once for a heart attack.

But it was only when he went home at the end of the semester that his brother casually mentioned their parents' physical condition to him in a few words. It was also during that vacation that Ash gradually realized his parents were beginning to grow old.

Those junk apps on their phones that took up storage space, the QR codes needed to buy things outside, the forms the neighborhood committee required them to fill out on their phones, the public account needed to make hospital appointments, how to choose TV channels on the set-top box... some of these steps even Ash found annoying, and there were also problems like lagging networks and lagging phone storage. His parents asked Ash many questions he thought were very simple, and Ash taught them many times.

But it was only during vacations. After school started, Ash returned to university. After graduating, he chose to stay and work in a big city, far from his hometown and far from his parents.

So he had always been very grateful to
